About Us
‘Frampton Remembers World War 1’ is a not-for-profit organisation which has been established to commemorate and record the effects of the First World War (WW1) on the community of Frampton on Severn; and the involvement of Frampton people in the War.
Our Aims:
* To commemorate the contribution made by people from Frampton in WW1
Objectives:
Whilst we have done all we can to ascertain that the battle in which this soldier lost his life is the correct one, we are unable to guarantee that the information given is 100% correct. Regiments have been contacted, War Diaries looked at whenever possible, numerous websites researched and, of course, descendants spoken to in order to obtain information which is as accurate as possible.
Our Aims:
* To commemorate the contribution made by people from Frampton in WW1
- To explain, especially to schools and other young people, the involvement of the people of Frampton in WW1, both at home and whilst serving their country
- To provide a lasting record of the commemoration for future generations
- To involve any interested party within the local and broader community.
Objectives:
- To raise the profile of the project and gather information through our ‘Memories Days’ [now completed]
- Undertake research by trained volunteers into the records of Gloucestershire Archives, Cadbury’s Archives, Service personnel, and local research with families into their papers, photographs and memorabilia [now completed]
- Exhibitions, enactments and displays [mainly completed - but see our 'Events' page]
- Design, development and establishment of a professionally supported website [now completed]
- Talks and presentations on WW1 topics (local schools and clubs) [ongoing]
- A book to commemorate the research we have gathered [now published].
