Arthur William HuntArthur William Hunt, known as William, was born on 19 March 1896, the younger son of Albert Hunt and Alice Eliza née Hogg. Their home in the hamlet of Fromebridge had four rooms, comparatively sizeable accommodation for William and his older brother, Albert Edward, to grow up in. By 1911 they were both woollen cloth workers. Details of William's war service have not been found, although his contribution is commemorated on the plaque in the village hall and he was registered as an absent voter in 1918-19. Anecdotal evidence suggests that Private William Hunt was one of two Frampton servicemen to unveil the village's war memorial on 23 April 1920. William worked in engineering after the war. On 14 October 1922 he married Sybil Mildred Hilda White at St Michael and All Angels, Eastington; one of their witnesses was Harold William Brinkworth, William's childhood neighbour at Fromebridge. The couple moved away shortly afterwards, perhaps to Eastington, where they were living in 1939. The death of Arthur William Hunt was registered in Gloucester City during the summer of 1972. |
